holy shit did you see that baby get owned in the face just now
but for real the cat jumped on the baby’s smiling idiot face, used it as a skateboard and did the sickest 180 you’ve ever seen. and the baby goes down still smiling like it didn’t just get owned as fuck
Alright, it’s time for a passionate rant.
I understand why people don’t like Moffat. I really do. And I agree with a lot of the criticisms. And I can respect your opinion that the RTD-era is better. I know that not every Moffat-character is great and that some episodes are pretty bad. But don’t ever say that Moffat ruined every Doctor Who episode that he touched.
This is my favorite Doctor Who episode. No question about it. In my opinion, this episode goes above and beyond to show what Doctor Who is really about. It does a phenomenal job at showing two monsters in this episode. The alien that’s rampaging through the village. And the ‘monsters’ that are in Vincent - his demons, his fears, his anxieties. And both ‘monsters’ are misunderstood. But that’s just one reason why this episode is amazing. You also have the fact that the Doctor originally doesn’t know how to react when Vincent has his emotional attack. This isn’t something that can be fixed with his Sonic Screwdriver or a button in the Tardis. And eventually the Doctor comes up with a solution. He takes Vincent to the museum and I dare you to look me in the eye and tell me that that scene didn’t make you cry. I still bawl every single time I see it. I still bawl every single time I hear the song ‘Chances’. Because this scene means so much to me. I can’t even put it into words.
This episode helped me come to terms with my own depression and anxiety. In fact, I’m willing to admit that this episode helped me overcome my depression and anxiety. The last five minutes alone were so inspirational…This episode has everything that a Doctor Who episode should have: a well-written plot, amazing characters, wonderful scenery, impressive graphics, an interesting monster, and an inspirational message that I will never forget.
So go ahead and hate Moffat as a person. Go ahead and hate most of his episodes and characters. But don’t you dare say that every single one of the episodes in the Moffat-era were horrible and that they didn’t have an impact on everyone. Because this episode had a huge impact on me. So you know what? Thank you, Moffat, for producing my favorite Doctor Who episode.
